thanksgiving.

happy thanksgiving you all!
do you know what the definition of thanksgiving is?
have you looked it up?
i got a big ol' smile when i saw it..
here it is..
t h a n k s g i v i n g : the act of giving thanks; grateful acknowledgement of benefits or favor, especially to god.

did you see that? especially to god.
isn't that true? isn't he the one that deserves all our thanks?
everything we have.. is god's. he has blessed us beyond measure to give these things to us.
i don't know about you.. but i take almost everything in life for granted.
i don't thank the lord enough for what i do have.
or don't.
i honestly don't even feel like i have given him enough thanks this month like what i'm supposed to be doing.
but today i reflect and remember.
i am thankful for the gift of life [which i will be celebrating another year on monday!!].
i am thankful for such a loving, caring, thoughtful husband. yes there are times when we disagree and fight, but i am so incredibly thankful to have him be the one i'm fighting and disagreeing with!
i am thankful for food in my tummy, clothes on my back, and a roof over my head. how amazing is it to know that we don't have to worry about where our next meal will come from, or where we will lay our heads down at night.
i am thankful for my job, even though there are many times i don't want to get up, make the long drive in and deal with cranky clients - but i do and i am thankful.
i am thankful for healthy family and friends who are here to support me and love me through all my mess ups.
i am thankful.
i am blessed.

thankfulness week two.

what a whirlwind of a month it's been so far.
i can't believe it's already the 15th and the month is half over.
i so can't believe that thanksgiving is already next thursday!
or that my birthday is a week and a half away!
there is so much to be thankful for that i have a hard time choosing each day!
here is this weeks #30daysofthanksgiving
one - thankful to be celebrating that sweet sweet friend of mine!!
two - thankful for no cavities and [soon] new glasses! i am so so so thankful to have teeth that work and eyes that can see. oh my what a blessing they both are!
three - i am thankful for hunters. they fill up my freezer with tasty meat. [i'm sorry if you are offended.. i'm not trying to offend anyone.. but have you met my husband?? he is a meat eating animal!] i don't like hunting.. but i am appreciative of those who do to provide for what i don't :)
four - new jammies. oh me oh my - and they were FREE! we still haven't spent any money this month - but i had some birthday gift cards in the mail from a store and couldn't resist these yummy cute and cozy pajamas!
five - so thankful for friends! they are so wonderful and supportive. and i love how much fun we have together!!
six - it's a blessing to be able to drive, let me tell you. i drive a lot. and i mean a whole lot. i put over 25,000 miles on my car a year. last year i put over 35,000. shh don't tell my insurance company ;) but i am so thankful that i have the capabilities to drive.
what are some things you're thankful for this week?

thankfulness week one.

so this first week of november has been crazy.
there have been lots of highs and lows.
but each day the Lord has revealed himself to me.
if you remember last week thursday.. i am doing #30daysofthanksgiving with some wonderful other women here in the blogging world. it's not too late to join - come one, come all!
here are my first seven days of thankfulness.
day one - the word of God. it's something i can never get enough of. i don't know who i would be or where i would be without it!
day two - coffee. i am slightly addicted to it. i am so thankful for those tasty little beans and what they make.
day three - having the right to vote. thankful to live in a country that gives us such freedom like this.
day four - amazing and tasty foods. there are SO many different foods and flavors available at our finger tips. it's seriously a blessing!
day five - gorgeous sunrises. God's goodness shines through and his grace is unbelievable!
day six - relaxation. it's a blessing to know that we don't have to be in control. God calls us to relax and rest and it allows us to watch his faithfulness to sustain us during those times.

i have been richly blessed by the mercy and grace of God this week.
AND we have spent zero dollars so far!!
it's definitely eye opening to see how often we are tempted to spend money on ourselves.
the Lord has provided for us beyond measure and we can confidently know that he will continue to do so.

what things have you been thankful for this month?

30 days of thanksgiving.

oh my - i can't believe it's already november!
it's crazy how fast these months and year have gone by!!!
november is a sweet and special month for me.
not only do i get to celebrate my birthday.
but we get to celebrate one of my favorite holidays.
thanksgiving.
a lot of people think it's one of my favorite holidays because i was born on that day.
or because my birthday falls on thanksgiving every 7-9 years [depending on leap year].
but neither of these are the case.
thanksgiving is one of my favorite days because i get to surround myself with so many wonderful things that i am incredibly thankful for.
my savior
family
friends
shelter
food
clothing
... the list goes on and on.
a couple years ago i decided to take my one day to celebrate all i'm thankful for and turn it into an entire month sharing the things i'm thankful for.
i posted a new thing i was thankful for each day on facebook.
well this year i was approached by an amazing lady who's heart is very thankful as well.
the Lord placed it on her heart to share all her thankfulness through blog posts.
of course i was on board right away!
so each week, on thursday's [thankful thursday's - yeaaa you like that?]
we will post about the things we're thankful for and what the Lord has been showing us that week.
pretty sweet right??
i know!
i told you.. she's awesome!
i'm so excited to join in and share with you just how thankful i am for the things i have!
on top of the posts - my husband and i decided to take things one step further on the 'thankfulness scale'
we decided to not spend any extra money this entire month.
this means nothing will be purchased outside of our bills and necessities.
now some of you are probably thinking i'm crazy for agreeing to do this as i mentioned earlier that my birthday is in november. i knew that going into this.. i also know and realize my love language is gifts. but i really really really just want to focus on the things i already have and what i'm already incredibly thankful for. i don't want to feel that i need any sort of gifts or night out on  the town for my birthday.
i really want to soak in everything God has already given me, and us.
i'm so excited for this. i already know God is going to reveal himself to me more through this!

let's give thanks together!
what are you thankful for?
